Council Chambers

The second meeting, or “adoption reading,” of the new parking ordinance, that the City Council wants final approval on, is scheduled for March 19th.

If you are opposed to the removal of parking regulations around Transit Priority Areas, we encourage you to attend the meeting and voice your concerns to the City Council.

The TPA parking policy change is an ordinance because it requires an amendment to the municipal code which requires more stringent review by staff and the City Attorney. Because of that it requires 2 readings before City Council. The introduction reading comes first. Then there are usually 2 weeks before the adoption reading. If the adoption passes it goes into effect 30 days later. A resolution, on the other hand, does not have a second reading in City Council. During those 2 weeks before the adoption reading the City Council can review and decide how they want to vote on the second reading. Since the first reading for TPA parking was on 3-4 the second reading will be 3-19 at 10am. Second readings are always on the Tuesday morning at council.
