Balloon March II is an organized protest by  all San Diegans over the State of California’s attempt to take local control of housing issues away from the electorate, the San Diego City Council’s premature removal of parking regulations around projects built near transit, and the inability and lack of political will to insure that affordable housing is built on-site at the new projects.

Thank- you to the San Diego Police that will be helping with the logistics of the march route so that we can have our children march with us.

Balloon March II- FIRST HALF

 10AM-3PM

EAST CLAIREMONT TO MISSION BAY (DE ANZA COVE GREEN AREA)

SECTION ONE

10am – 11am

We will begin at Lindberg Park off Ashford Street in Clairemont.  The balloon staff will inflate the balloon at 9am. Once we enter Balboa Ave, marchers can join in. For those who come early, there is a parking lot at the east end of Lindberg park.

The first leg of the march will end at the Mt.Etna site at Balboa and Genesee Ave.

From that location, the balloon will be loaded on a pickup truck and driven to the beginning of the SECTION TWO begin point at the 3800 block of Modoc St.

SECTION TWO

11am -3pm

The march will resume on Clairemont Dr. and Modoc St. and continue along Clairemont Dr. to Mission Bay (De Anza Cove green area) where we will rest and eat packed lunches.

BALLOON MARCH II- SECOND HALF

BIRD ROCK TO LA JOLLA REC CENTER

3PM TO 5PM

SECTION ONE

LA JOLLA BLVD (AT COLIMA) TO CAMINO DE LA COSTA

3PM START TIME AT COLIMA (SANDS OF LA JOLLA)

SECTION TWO

LA JOLLA REC CENTER  -END POINT (PROSPECT ST & DRAPER AVE)

START POINTS ALONG MARCH ROUTE***Clairemont Residents: please park as close to Balboa Ave near your residences and join the Balloon March as it progresses beyond your starting point.  We don’t want marchers parking or blocking the traffic along Balboa Ave.  You can then march as little or as much as others join in as the Balloon passes.  There will only be 4-10 people at the beginning of the march at the Start point above: those folks will prepare the balloon and begin accumulating marchers as they progress down Balboa Ave.

More specific details will be worked out with the San Diego Police Department for the route’s safety in order to allow our children to participate in the March.  Please join our email list or check back regularly.
